In 1999 Keep A Breast founders Shaney jo Darden and Mona Mukherjea-Gehrig learned that a dear friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Utilizing their background in art and skateboard culture, the two mobilized and began to communicate to the action sports world the physical and emotional challenges of breast cancer.
The Keep A Breast foundation has now gone worldwide and through awareness and self-checking programs, saved countless lives. Their latest and greatest project is the free Check Yourself App which allows for self checking on a monthly basis.
